An original vintage French wavy coolie shade made from a clear opalescent glass, which we have completed with an antiqued brass gallery and new brass bulbholder. The glass is very beautiful, clear but with an iridescent hue when the light catches it. The shape from above is very floral - it's a truly lovely piece. It's hard to date these shades precisely, but we think this one is probably from the 1950s.
We search antiques fairs and shops in France to source these and similar shades. We think they would look absolutely beautiful in just about any room, and also in a shop or café.
In very good condition. All these shades have some nibbles around the neck and a few 'flaws' from the very hands-on manufacturing process. This one has a blob of glass on the body (final picture, ringed).
Measures approx. 25.5cm diameter x 8cm max height. Bulbholder is a B22 bayonet fitting. Electric flex and bulb are not included - this listing is for the shade, the brass gallery and the bulbholder.
