Vintage French marbled glass ceiling light shade pink tablecloth brass fittings

This gorgeous handmade vintage French marbled glass ceiling light shade is in a salmon pink colour.  Designed to replicate folded fabric - in the early days of electric lighting, a piece of crocheted cloth or lace was often draped over plain metal or ceramic shades to better suit the decorative tastes of the day - we call this the tablecloth shape.   These marbled shades were probably made in the Clichy area near Paris, and have a fabulous marbling effect which refracts the light wonderfully.  We have completed it with an antiqued brass gallery and new brass bulb holder.  The electric cable is not included, but available separately in our ebay store, along with period style porcelain ceiling roses.

We search antiques fairs and shops in France to source these and similar shades.  It's hard to date them exactly, but we think they were probably produced post the war and into the 1950s.  We think they would look absolutely beautiful in just about any room, and also in a shop or café.  

In excellent condition, with no chips or cracks but please note that minor imperfections are inevitable with items of this age and which have been manufactured in small batches with a lot of hand finishing.  The vast majority have nicks and nibbles around the neck where the shade was cut from the pontil, but the gallery covers them and so they are not visible.

Measures approx. 26cm diameter x 9cm max height.  Bulbholder is bayonet fitting.  Electric flex and bulb are not included - this listing is for the shade, the brass gallery and the bulbholder.
