A very beautiful vintage original French pleated opaline glass coolie light shade with a tightly pleated trim edged in fused clear glass.   This would have been hand blown and shaped, and due to the thickness and weight of the glass we would probably date it as from the 1930s.  We have completed it with an antiqued brass gallery and a new bulb holder with cord grip.  The bulb and cord are not included.  Electric cable is available separately in our ebay store, as well as porcelain ceiling roses.  These period vintage shades were originally hung from high ceilings in old kitchens and parlours in France, sometimes on the end of rise and fall suspensions.  They were also attached to swan-neck arms and used as wall lights.  Typically French, they look gorgeous in any room.

In great condition.  As with all glass shades from this era, when the shades were largely hand made, please expect slight manufacturing imperfections such as black firing specks, bubbles, differences in colour intensity etc.   These shades nearly always have nibbles around the rim where the gallery is fixed, invisible when in place.   For us, this makes each shade special and unique, and we hope you agree.  Measures approx. 24.5cm diameter and 6cm high.  Bulb holder is bayonet fitting.  Bulb and cable are not included.
