A beautiful antique French water jug or gargoulette in a bluish-white glaze, probably dating from the very early 20th century. Standing approx 40cm high, it has its original lid, attached to the handle with its original piece of twisted fleece wool. A very rustic piece, it was sourced in south-west rural France and would have been used for keeping water or milk cool. Glazed inside and out, it's in very good condition and still holds water, with just a few knocks and marks that you'd want and expect from a household item of this age. Measures 40cm high by 25cm maximum width. Weighs 2.96kg.
