An original French rise & fall ceiling light, a beautiful piece of period lighting dating from the very early 20th century, which we have re-wired and restored with an opaline milk glass coolie shade. The porcelain counterweight is of a superior quality and has crazed beautifully over time. The decorative brass fixings match on the counterweight and rose & pulley. The lights can be raised and lowered easily, and these suspensions were often found over parlour tables in old French houses. Retracted, the light measures approx 71cm from the rose to the bottom of the shade. Fully extended, the light descends down to approx 1.40cm, but you can alter this if you decide to extend or cut the flex. The shade measures approx 26cm diameter. The counterweight is filled with its original heavy sand. The bulbholder is ceramic and takes a bayonet bulb. Customers in the US & Canada: please ask us about bayonet bulbs.
